Prepare for the adventure of your lifetime!
Prepare for the adventure of your lifetime!
After nearly fifty years of diving, I am taking a permanent surface interval. Here I share my life of diving!
If you had been with me on March 26, 2014 on the South side of Utila, Honduras, you could have witnessed this encounter with a pod of nearly 200 dolphins.
BIOGRAPHY: I began scuba diving in 1971 and became certified on May 14th through the Aqua Falcons Skin Diving Club at Clark Air Base in the Philippines.
I was an avid diver throughout the 70s and in 1979 I became a Divemaster in pursuit of a dream. That dream was to live and work in the islands pursuing the occupation of being a dive professional. While implementing that dream, however, my circumstances changed.
Although I continued diving into the early 80s, life intervened and I lost sight of my dream. Instead, I joined the ranks of many others in the corporate world, pursuing education, a family and the like, that is, until in the summer of 2010, when my lovely wife, Deb, helped me remember the dream . . . and in August, the dream began anew. . . September I renewed my Divemaster certification. Recognizing my desire to introduce the thrill of this sport to others, I attained Assistant Instructor that Fall.
By Spring of 2011, I achieved an Instructor rating and I certified nearly 300 divers over the next three years. I did recognize my dream of living and working in the islands teaching courses from beginner level to Instructor level while achieving the Master Instructor rating.
I thoroughly enjoyed this part of my profession. Helping others
become a professional in this occupation was an exhilarating
experience for me and I was thrilled to do this at every
opportunity. The personal and professional growth that a
person experiences as they move toward becoming a professional
is amazing to see and I loved being a part of it. They find out
that this business is serious business but it is also serious
fun. So if you think you would like to be a part of this
serious fun, I have included two Word PDF files for you to
digest. So you want to be a Divemaster and So you want to be
an Instructor are two articles I wrote in 2013 because people
were telling me they wanted to do what I do. So, I decided to
supply them with an understanding of what it is that I do and
how it is I got there.
It was a simpler time!
While stationed in the Philippines, I achieved a Scuba Certification. A decade of discoveries!
During a time when air fare was cheep, dive packages were affordable and there was no restrictions on luggage.
A career to support a passion!
My work in the seventies was to earn the monies necessary to purchase dive gear, dive vacations & earn a Divemaster Certification.
First aid, lifesaving, 3 weeks of Divemaster training in the islands. Few pictures!
My Inspiration to teach!
